Day 8 – Bruges Morning Run

Yes, Sherry talked me into a run. I wasn’t very excited about it . . . but in an effort to be accommodating, I agreed to it. Oh my gosh, I’m so glad I did! We ended up running about 7.5 miles, along canals, through woods, around giant windmills and alongside giant cornfields. We had no idea where we were headed – except away from the city center. I’ll throw in a few photos of things we encountered – and Sherry’s blog will have even more photos.

Yes, Gotta Run

After the run, we headed back to the Hostel, got cleaned up and headed back into town for some breakfast. I HAD to have another Flat White coffee and then we found a truck in the town center and got these . . . click on the photos to expand and get the entire scoop!

World's best belgian Waffles

At least that’s what the sign says . . .

After the waffles, (Plain waffle, buried in Nutella syrup) we walked more and found a beautiful little park where we sat and crafted these blog posts. So relaxing and fun!

Tomorrow: Monchau, Germany

I know. We said we were going to Amsterdam, right? But the three things we wanted to do there just aren’t available in the time frame we need. For example we wanted to visit Anne Frank’s house; No tickets available. We wanted to visit Corrie Ten Boom’s house; No tickets available. We wanted to visit the Van Gogh museum . . . and we could do that, but it isn’t enough of a draw on its own. So we’re skipping Amsterdam. Not interested in even seeing the red light district.

poke a finger on the map

Or . . . look up the most beautiful and least known and visited places in Germany. Monchau it is. So, we take a train to Aachen (3+ hours) and then a bus ride (~ 1 hour) to Monchau. Supposedly it’s one of the little villages “virtually untouched” for the last 300 years. We’ll see. And we’ll keep you posted!
