Day 4 – London . . . Again

Started out early today . . . We were up and out the door by about 7:30, despite having a pretty rough night of sleep again. They say it takes 1 day for every hour of time change for your body to adjust. That means we probably have another 4 nights of interrupted sleep. Check out Sherry’s blog for more info on last night’s sleeplessness. After our Black Sheep Flat White coffee (best we’ve found so far – Way better than Starbucks or Costa Coffee!), we headed to our (now) ritual spot at Pret A Manger in the Kings Cross station for our morning devotions and email recaps.

We left there at around 9 am and went from Kings Cross area to Buckingham Palace (about 2 1/2 – 3 miles) to await the famous “Changing of the Guard). It’s pretty amazing to watch the pomp and ceremony attached to this historic but regular event. I think they change every other day or so.

After watching the Changing of the Guards, we headed to Harrods. Oh my . . . Indulgence on steroids. I think Sherry said it’s one of (if not THE) most exclusive and expensive stores on the planet. 6 floors of unabashed opulence! You can’t imagine the stuff you find here. Entire departments devoted to chocolate; or coffee; or pastries. You name it, they’ve got it. In the “deli” section, their “sandwich of the month” included a covering of edible gold. Yes, you read that right!

Enough for today . . . Tomorrow we have a 4 – 5 hour train trip to Bruges, Belgium. See you there!
