Day 1: LAX to Copenhagen . . . Done!

The first flight from LAX was pretty easy. We arrived nearly an hour ahead of schedule, which is normally great news. However, that simply added one hour to our already long 5-hour layover. First time on Scandinavian Airlines; we had 2 of a block of 3 seats in the center of the plane. Not much space, but neither was it super uncomfortable. The technology was good, and the movies were great. I watched 2 of the batman movies and part of The Hobbit

Local time in Copenhagen is about 10:30 am, and the Airport is nearly empty! And yes, it’s Sherry asleep on the seat next to me:-) It’s a rather overcast, dreary day here today – though the temp is a mild 68 degrees F. We’re sitting in a section of the airport that has 3 gates and there are no other people in the waiting area! We were up at about 4:30 so I’ve been up about 20 hours so far. We have another 3 1/2 hours before we can board our flight to London. It’s so strange hearing all the announcements (of which there aren’t many!) in another language that is really foreign to my ears. I can’t remember ever hearing Danish spoken before!

It’s hard to imagine that we’re really on this crazy, epic journey . . . and don’t really know what it’s going to look like. We have so many ideas, and yet no solid plans. The only thing solid for right now is our stay in London. Can’t wait to get there and figure out the next legs of the trip!

  1. Hi Rick,
I hope you two are able to make it to Amsterdam as part of your epic journey. I wanted to let you know there is a vegetarian Indian Buffet by the British Museum in London. It is my favorite place to have lunch. I believe this is the restaurant.

    1. Hi Lauri! Yes, we’re planning to go to Amsterdam on Monday. From there on to Berlin and then . . . who knows?? We will be back in London at the end of our trip, as our return flight is from Heathrow. We’ll definitely check out your fav restaurant! We love Indian food, too! Thanks!
